Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

kettlebell-feat-edit.png-750x420

When it comes to preparedness, there is a long list of gear and skills that need to be learned and implemented. The more skills that we become proficient in, the less gear that we need to hump around with us. Getting prepared can be overwhelming at times so a few things tend to slip by the wayside. However, one facet of preparedness that can not be substituted for is our physical preparedness. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it remains the most overlooked aspect of emergency preparedness. Personally, I use the kettlebell for optimal preparedness training.

Kettlebell As The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

I can completely understand the dilemma that most survivalists face when it comes to their physical fitness. Most think that they need to give up a couple of hours of their day to head to the gym and… that doesn’t even include the commute! With full time jobs, children, other responsibilities and even budget concerns… Who the hell really has time for PT? Let’s not forget the daily due-diligence of working on our other preparedness needs.

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

But let’s get real for a minute here… We both realize that we may need to move out on foot when a crisis arises. After all, that is why we spend so much of our time putting tweaking our go-bags. We want to be prepared and have a great chance of surviving through any SHTF scenario. But if we do not have the physical ability to get to our destination… How can we possibly hope to accomplish our mission?

Even if the situation dictates that we hunker in or move out via our vehicles, our health will play a big role in our chances of boding well through the crisis. The more that our physical shape lacks, the more of a liability that we become to ourselves as well as our loved ones. The more physically fit that we are, the greater the amount of work that we can perform regardless of the situation. Our fitness readiness even has a direct correlation to our motivation level. If your body is not at it’s peak, your mind will also be misfiring when you need it the most.

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

So you realize that your physical fitness level is not just a luxury… It’s a must in any emergency situation. But you still have time constraints from your busy life to deal with. It is nearly impossible for most to devote an hour to PT… Even a few times per week. I realize that you cannot fit any more hours into a single day, But…

What if there was a way to train smarter, not harder?

About a decade ago, I finally decided to get off my ass and get back into proper shape. I was one of those guilty of being a gear collector. Basically, I would forego anything that had to do with my physical fitness and just throw money at new, shiny gear as a form of compensation. As a former active-duty infantry Marine, I knew better… But after experiencing a serious injury in the Corps, let’s just say that I was a bit hesitant to reveal my physical limitations after being part of the elite.

One day I was searching the Internet and came across a couple of fellow disabled veterans that were performing impressive physical feats. It was a reality check because even as an active duty U.S. Marine in my 20’s, I couldn’t move the way that they were moving in these videos. The injuries that they had suffered were also much worse than mine.

At this point, I had no excuse but to delve further and figure out what their secret was. It wasn’t long before I came across this strange looking tool that they were using. It basically looked like a cannonball with a handle on it. This awkward looking tool was called a kettlebell.

As I delved further, I learned that the kettlebell was not only a great corrective exercise tool that can restore the body, but it also considerably shortened the time needed for an effective workout. There was plenty of science to back up these claims but watching these fellow vets move the way that they were… That’s what really sold me. I bought dvd’s, books, digital downloads and invested in a good kettlebell coach. In virtually no time, my body began to change.

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

I Was Once Again Feeling Like One Of The Elite!

Unlike olympic free weights, the kettlebell has a displaced center of gravity. In order to properly move with the kettlebell, various muscle groups need to be utilized. Your core has to be continually activated while the kettlebell is in play. So even shorter workouts have better results than longer bouts of conventional training. The efficiency that this brings to our PT makes it ideal for those that focus on preparedness.

There are various ways and even styles of training when it comes to the kettlebell. There are countless protocols to plug into your workouts depending on what your goal is. Some utilize the kettlebell for strength training while others use it to maximize their “cardio & V02” levels. You basically have a whole gym worth of options, just by having access to 1 kettlebell.

One of my favorite and go-to exercises for conditioning is the kettlebell swing. When put into a proper protocol, it has helped my NTC Members lose weight, tone muscle and reach peak health levels. One of the more practical benefits of swinging a kettlebell is that is builds endurance. I have seen members go from falling out of a hike on mile 1, to completing 30 mile treks over a weekend! I personally have used the kettlebell swing as my main conditioning tool when training for marathons.

It saved me precious time, saved my feet and legs from extra countless miles… And enabled me to achieve my goal!

Hopefully you are starting to see why I feel that the kettlebell is the ultimate physical preparedness tool. It is basically catered to those focused on preparedness.

Another benefit is that training with a kettlebell requires very little space. You can find a small corner in any room or even bring your kettlebell outdoors which works perfectly with our lifestyles. There is no need to spend money on a expensive gym membership. Why be confined to a box and restrained by the hours that the gym is open?

Invest in a kettlebell of 2 and when it comes to your PT… You are set for life!

Just like any tool that I choose to add to my preparedness plan, I prefer that it has more than one purpose. Kettlebells come in various shapes, sizes and even construction. I have never met a kettlebell that I didn’t like but I am partial to the ones made of solid cast iron. Not only will they last a lifetime but also offer me diversified purposes when it comes to my emergency preparedness.

Engineer your own vehicles, military style

I would like to go ahead and share my top 5 reasons that makes the kettlebell an ideal conditioning tool for the preparedness community.

Endurance & Strength:

I mentioned that time is a big factor when it comes to people forgoing their physical preparedness. When you implement proper protocols “workouts” with the kettlebell, you can work on your strength and endurance at the same time.

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

This directly correlates to being able to move out of foot for great distances with heavy rucks. The kettlebell is not a replacement for getting your “legs” by hiking for distance. But you can cut down the time devoted to long hikes by adding kettlebell workouts into your PT.

Multi-Purpose Tool:

Since most of my kettlebells are 100% solid cast iron, I can use them to accomplish various tasks. We have already mentioned the PT aspect but you can also use it as an anchor, hammer, tie down, trap & snare tool, counterbalance, nutcracker, a weapon and whatever else your mind can conjure up in a SHTF situation.

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

You Can Cook On it:

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

Yes, since some of our kettlebells are made of 100% solid cast iron with no coating, this makes the kettlebell a perfect platform to cook on in a pinch. If you like dutch oven cooking, or cooking on hot stones… then give the kettlebell a try.

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

Durable & Portable:

The kettlebell will most likely outlast us due to it’s solid construction. You can drop it, throw it, burn it and even yell at it with very little damage being done. 😉 For someone preparedness-minded, knowing that your tool is always at the ready makes it a keeper!

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

Whether you are moving out via your vehicle or hunkering in… The kettlebell can remain a part of your plan since it takes up little space. You will have the ideal PT tool at your side ensuring that you maintain your health and fitness levels.

Develop Combatives Attributes:

My initial kettlebell teachers would always remind me that certain kettlebell exercises are the closest that we will ever get to a Combative situation without throwing a strike. Well, years later… I still agree with that statement.

Engineer your own vehicles, military style

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

This idea rings true for survivalists because self-defense is a critical part of being prepared. I even named my kettlebell training method… Kettlebell Combatives.

The kettlebell can mimic movements that a training partner would deploy. The good thing about the kettlebell is that it becomes your ideal training partner.

  • It always wins… you can only hope to move with it, as opposed to defeating it.
  • It never gets sick; It always shows up for training.
  • It doesn’t lose motivation.
  • Doesn’t give you a false sense of security while training.

Bottom Line:

There are many great training methods that will get your physical preparedness where it needs to be. Your job is to find one, implement it and stick to it!

The kettlebell has worked wonders on my preparedness as well as countless members that I have personally coached. In 10 years I have seen people’s physical and even mental lives change… All because of the kettlebell.

Why The Kettlebell Is The Ultimate Tool For Physical Preparedness

Just like any skill, you need to remain safe when first learning the various exercises and drills. The kettlebell can be your best friend but it can also hurt you. Be smart and be sure to get proper instruction before attempting any form of PT, let alone kettlebell training.

If you are serious about taking your physical preparedness to the next level, take a very close look at kettlebell training… You too may consider it the ultimate conditioning tool.

Making a G.O.O.D PLAN: Get Out Of Dodge

WHAT IS A G.O.O.D. PLAN?

Basically a GOOD Plan is life’s Plan B. Plan A, is what we are currently living. We live in society that pretty much provides for all our basic needs and then some. Plan A is where the electric is always on, clean water comes out of the faucet, when you dial 911 someone shows up to help you. Plan A is where babies are born in hospitals, our kids are educated in schools to prepare them for employment, were adults working at jobs to receive monetary compensation so they can exchange it for things they need and want. Plan A is where some people get married, have kids, enjoy comfortable retirement, and then die. Plan A is commonly referred to as the “Center Holds”. We live a life of electricity, gas for our cars, food available nearly everywhere, and a government that provides a degree of law and order and responds to most emergency that may befall us.

Most of us are on board with Plan A. But what if Plan A fails? What if the Center doesn’t hold? What if events, beyond your control, fall upon you and change all you know and expect from life. Do you have a Plan B? What if you find that you can no long stay in your current home due to lack of power, water and food? What if your neighborhood is no longer safe and you have to leave, to “Get Out Of Dodge”. Where would you go? How would you get there? How would you live once you got there? What is your Plan B?

The primary purpose of this document is to get you thinking about Plan B. And to provide a very basic understanding of things to consider if you decide to develop a Plan B. As with Plan A you layout goals and acquire resources that will support you Plan A goals. Same with Plan B, you develop goals, then start acquiring resources.

The purpose of a GOOD Plan is to get you, and your family, to a place of safety and survival before SHTF (Shit Hits The Fan). Your plan needs to be executable and based in reality. A good GOOD Plan will answer three questions.

  • Where are you going?
  • When do you leave?
  • What are you taking?

Finally, you need to communicate your GOOD plan with your family. Doesn’t help to have a plan if no one’s aware of it.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

Survival Retreat

A GOOD Plan assumes that you will be leaving your current / normal place of residence for a Survival Retreat. However, if you currently live in a place that meets the basic requirement of a Survival Retreat, then there is no reason to leave.
A Survival Retreat is a predetermined place that you would be living at for at least a year. By predetermined I mean that you know where the place is, you know how to get there and, if you don’t own it, then you are expected by the owner or have their permission to stay.

The basic first requirements for a retreat is no different from any piece of real estate, it all starts with location. A retreat that is remote, and off the beaten path is preferred over one that is in or next to populated areas. Your retreat needs to be defendable. It needs to have access to fresh water, and a fuel/energy source.

Fresh water can come from rivers, streams, lakes or rainfall. A retreat fuel/energy source is either one that you have stockpiled like gasoline or diesel fuels. Or ones that you have developed like wind, solar, and/or hydro. Additionally, there are natural energy sources like trees, and coal that can be harvested and burned.

Consideration should be given as to how the retreat will support your family. It is large enough? If you plan to grow food, is land suitable for gardening? Can you protect the food you grow from wildlife?

As to defending a retreat, the best ones don’t need defending. Meaning its location is such that access is difficult or well concealed. The goal is to be able to fend off a small band of four to six attackers. What is the most likely avenue of attack? What can you do to neutralize that avenue? For attacks by groups larger than six you need to have a means of escape. The escape route needs to be concealed and will get you and your family out of harms’ way.

Another consideration is your route of travel to the retreat. Ideally you will be leaving before there are roadblocks. But in case you don’t and the primary route is blocked. You need to have a secondary route. Neither route should depend on things like ferries or airplanes. Both routes should be ones that if needed you could walk.

Other things to consider when selecting a retreat

  • What is its condition, are repairs needed?
  • Does it have a means of heating and cooking without electric or gas?
  • Is it physically large enough to support your family?
  • If you don’t there full time and you stockpile resources, can it be secure?

Ideally you have stockpiled enough food, water, and other survival gear at your retreat that will support your group through at least the first year. This will give to time to establish a mean of addition food source, like a garden, bartering or developing your hunting and fishing skills.

An eye-opening exercise is to make a list of all the things you would need for you and your family to survive for a year without being restocked, access to support systems like medical services, and no power, running water or sewage service.
How much food would you need, how about clothing, medical supplies, weapons and ammo? What knowledge or skills would you need?

Once you have the list, cross off all the items you currently have. I think you will find that other than a camp stove and sleeping bags and some clothing you are in need of a lot of shit.

WHEN DO YOU LEAVE?

bug out before disaster

In developing a GOOD Plan there are two terms that need defined and given consideration that help in determine when to Get Out Of Dodge.

The first term is tipping point. A tipping point is a moment in time that due to a series of events or one major event the odds of society collapsing and going off the deep end, are the same odds as the center holding and life pretty much continue as it has, otherwise a moment when things could go either way. Pandemics, economic collapse and national wide civil unrest are the events that would lead to a tipping point.

A collapse of society is better known to “preppers” as TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It). While TEOTWAWKI indicates once things go to hell, they stay that way forever. I believe that after a period of time things will return to a more civilized / normal way of life. The challenge will be to survive till it does. This leads to two questions, how bad will it get? And how long will it last? The theory is, the worst things gets, the longer it lasts, the longer it lasts, the worst things will get.

The second term is trip wire event (TWE), this is an event or events that when it happen, tells you it’s time to GOOD. The term trip wire comes from the practice of stringing a wire around your camp about 4” off the ground. The wire is connected to a device that can warn you that an intruder is attempting to enter your camp. A TWE is a warning that in the near future shit is going to hit fan. The challenge with TWE is that different events that would result in TEOTWAWKI would have different trip wires. For example, a TWE for a pandemic is different from those for an economic collapse. Though a major pandemic would, or could cause an economic collapse. If you wait to GOOD till the economic collapse you’re leaving too late. TWEs are also flexible and always being reevaluated.

Another challenge with TWEs is selecting ones that when they happen there is enough time to allow you to GOOD before TEOTWAWKI. Like a trip wire around your camp site. Too close to the camp and there’s no time to react. A TWE needs to be before the SHTF, meaning before the electrical power is off, before the grocery stores are out of food, before all the gas stations are closed, before police and firefighters stop showing up for work, before there are roadblocks (either those set up by the government or the ones set up by morons with guns).

Also when considering TWE you don’t want ones that are not so far in advance of the SHTF that you GOOD before it’s necessary. The same is true for a campsite tripwire, too far away can having you react to something that was not really a threat. Staying put till the right time to GOOD will allow you to continue gathering supplies.

In putting together a GOOD Plan you can categorize TEOTWAWKI events into one of two types, CONSIDERED EVENTS and NON-CONSIDERED EVENTS. A Considered Event is one that could happen and you can prepare for it. A Non-considered Event is one that is damn near impossible to happen or if it does no amount of prepping will save you.

Below are Considered Events that I believe warrant the execution of our GOOD plan.

Power Grid Down:
There are three main power grids in this country, Eastern, Western and Texas. All are susceptible to hacking or physical sabotage. The loss of one grid would have a direct impact on the other two. Experts estimate that if the grid is taking down by a hacker it could take months to a year to get the system back up. Experts also say that it’s not a matter of if the grid is hack but more of a matter of when.

Economic Collapse:
This event will have plenty of warnings but when it happens it will hit hard and fast. The impact will push many people over the edge. Don’t wait too long to GOOD. Another challenge in this event will be to have a stockpiled a resource that will have value after the collapse that you can use to barter with for things you don’t have but need to survive.

Pandemic:
Pandemic is basically an outbreak of a disease that is highly contagious, deadly and wide-spread. It could start in any part of the world. The primary goal will be to get away from areas of large populations or if you can’t get away, have a means to isolate yourself from those who are infected.

Civil Unrest:
This event will undoubtedly happen during a pandemic and economy collapse. But there is a long list of other event that could result in wide-spread civil unrest. The primary challenge will be security, protecting your family and resources.

The following are Non-considered Events that I have no intention of planning for.

  • Global thermonuclear war (this would not include a single nuclear attack by a terrorist)
  • An attack/invasion by aliens from outer space
  • A plague that results in people who die becoming flesh-eating zombies
  • The earth being sucked into a black hole
  • The earth being hit by a planet killing asteroid (ELE, Extinctions Level Event)

WHAT ARE YOU TAKING?

Ideally you have stockpile resources at your retreat and the items you’re taking are minimal. For the most part you will need damn near everything you didn’t stockpiled. Your GOOD Plan should list out what you’re taking. The recommendation is to pack based on priorities of, security first (weapons and ammo), first aid/medical, then all the non-perishable food you have in your home, any camping gear you have, any type of fuel, and if you have one, take your generator. If space allows, load up clothing, linen, “How To” books, tools and any items that might be used for barter. My recommendation is bring the dog but leave the cat (unless you are willing to eat the cat).

WHAT TO EXPECT IF SHTF?

shtf disaster

Besides for being prepped up with survival supplies and resources, you need to also prep your mind. You need to be mentally prepared for the weeks and months ahead. Prepare to make tough decisions. Decisions that may, and can mean the difference between life and death. So what can you expect? If you think about it, about a week or so after SHTF there’s a good chance basic services, like police, fire and medical responses will be gone or greatly decreased. Once power is off for the entire area for more than three days there’s a good chance things are only going to go from bad to worst. If you turn on a portable TV or radio and the only broadcast is emergency information message telling you to stay at home and wait further orders or tell you were the nearest FEMA camp is located. You can bet the economy is near to or in the process of collapsing.

Once the economy has collapsed the only person still working will be mostly be the first responders and the military. And they will stop showing up once they sense that their families are at risk. Once that happens there goes the last means of public security. Hopefully before any of this happens you and your family will be at a survival retreat. Regardless were you are you will be on your own.

Without securing items like food, water and protection will be mostly gone. If there is no public security people will stop showing up for work and stay home to protect their family. There will be hard times in the first weeks and months. Due to the lack of resources like food, drinking water, medical support and electricity there will be a lot of people dying. The first to go will be the physically impaired. People that cannot fend for themselves, or cannot move under their own power, people who depend on regular medication to stay alive. Nearly all these people will be dead in the first week or less. The next group to go will be the poor. With little or no resources to start with, most will holdout in their homes and apartments waiting, hoping that “someone”is coming to help them. Prior to a total collapse some of the poor and unprepared will be “helped” by the government in being relocated to a FEMA camp. These camps will offer food, shelter, and security until the military collapses. At that point the things with fall into chaos as it did at the Superdome during Katrina. The camp will collapse into a “dog-eat-dog” environment. It will be brutal and deadly. In my option these camps are to be avoided at all costs.

As to the healthy but unprepared a number of them will be injured or killed trying to find a means of survival or escape the cities. Without medical attention the injured will succumb to their wounds/injuries. In a SHTF world, if you are not prepared, a broken arm or leg, a laceration that is allowed to become infected can kill you. The unprepared people who last the longest will and can pose the biggest threat by forming into predatory gangs. These gangs will be armed, mobile and lethal. They will do whatever they want to secure food and resources. As they consume the resources in an area they will move on to other areas of opportunity. Some will travel by vehicle once they figure out how to connect a generator up to a gas pump. Ours will move on foot. The leaders of these gangs will more in likely have been criminals prior to SHTF or maybe military training or both. Due to being forced to “live off the land” these gangs will likely be mostly male and consist of less than 20 people. There are two options for dealing with these gangs. The first, and best option, is to avoid contact. Stay concealed and under the radar. The second is to attack and kill them before they attack and kill you. My guess is that most of these groups will relocate to parts of the country where the climate is mild year round.

In a long-term survival situation, there are lots of areas you will have to be mentally prepared for. Of all of them death will be the most challenging. Death of a love one or a vital member of the group can leave you mentally vulnerable and weak. Your challenge will be to morn but not let the event push you into a feeling of hopelessness. Every member of your group needs to be physically and mentally strong. The way to strengthen your body is through exercise. The same is true for the mind. Your group will need to hold regular meeting to discuss events that can happen. This will help to prepare the group mentally for impactful events. Discussing responses to events and making a plan will help to prevent confusion and inaction if the event occurs.

12 Signs The Economic Slowdown The Experts Have Been Warning About Is Now Here

12-Pool-Ball-460x349

Since the election there has been this perception among the American public that the economy is improving, but that has not been the case at all.  U.S. GDP growth for the first quarter was just revised up to 1.2 percent, but that is even lower than the average growth of just 1.33 percent that we saw over the previous ten years.  But when you look even deeper into the numbers a much more alarming picture emerges.  Commercial and industrial loan growth is declining, auto loan defaults are rising, bankruptcies are absolutely surging and we are on pace to break the all-time record for most store closings in a single year in the United States by more than 20 percent.  All of these are points that I have covered before, but today I have 12 new facts to share with you.  The following are 12 signs that the economic slowdown that the experts have been warning about is now here…

#1 According to Challenger, the number of job cuts in May was 71 percent higher than it was in May 2016.

#2 We just witnessed the third worst drop in U.S. construction spending in the last six years.

#3 U.S. manufacturing PMI fell to an 8 month low in May.

#4 Financial stocks have lost all of their gains for the year, and some analysts are saying that this is “a terrible sign”.

#5 One new survey has found that 39 percent of all millionaires “plan to avoid investing in the coming month”.  That is the highest that figure has been since December 2013.

#6 Jobless claims just shot up to a five week high of 248,000.

#7 General Motors just reported another sales decline in May, and it is being reported that the company may be preparing for “more job cuts at its American factories”.

#8 After an initial bump after Donald Trump’s surprise election victory, U.S. consumer confidence is starting to fall.

#9 Since Memorial Day, Radio Shack has officially shut down more than 1,000 stores.

#10 Payless has just increased the number of stores that it plans to close to about 800.

#11 According to the Los Angeles Times, it is being projected that 25 percent of all shopping malls in the United States may close within the next five years.

#12 Over the past 12 months, the number of homeless people living in Los Angeles County has risen by a  staggering 23 percent.

And in case those numbers have not persuaded you that the U.S. economy is heading for rough times, I would encourage you to go check out my previous article entitled “11 Facts That Prove That The U.S. Economy In 2017 Is In Far Worse Shape Than It Was In 2016” for even more eye-popping statistics.

During a bubble, it can feel like the good times are just going to keep rolling forever.

But that never actually happens in reality.

The truth is that we are in the terminal phase of the greatest debt bubble of all time, and the evidence is starting to mount that this debt bubble has just about run its course.  The following comes from Zero Hedge

A recurring theme on this website has been to periodically highlight the tremendous build up in US corporate debt, most recently in April when we showed that “Corporate Debt To EBITDA Hits All Time High.” The relentless debt build up is something which even the IMF recently noted, when in April it released a special report on financial stability, according to which 20% of US corporations were at risk of default should rates rise. It is also the topic of the latest piece by SocGen’s strategist Andrew Lapthorne who uses even more colorful adjectives to describe what has happened since the financial crisis, noting that “the debt build-up during this cycle has been incredible, particularly when compared to the stagnant progression of EBITDA.”

Lapthorne calculates that S&P1500 ex financial net debt has risen by almost $2 trillion in five years, a 150% increase, but this mild in comparison to the tripling of the debt pile in the Russell 2000 in six years. He also notes, as shown he previously, that as a result of this debt surge, interest payments cost the smallest 50% of stocks in the US fully 30% of their EBIT compared with just 10% of profits for the largest 10% and states that “clearly the sensitivity to higher interest rates is then going to be with this smallest 50%, while the dominance and financial strength of the largest 10% disguises this problem in the aggregate index measures.”

The same report noted that net debt growth in the U.S. is quickly headed toward negative territory, and the last time that happened was during the last recession.

We see similar things when we look at the 2nd largest economy on the entire planet.  According to Jim Rickards, China “has multiple bubbles, and they’re all getting ready to burst”…

China is in the greatest financial bubble in history. Yet, calling China a bubble does not do justice to the situation. This story has been touched on periodically over the last year.

China has multiple bubbles, and they’re all getting ready to burst. If you make the right moves now, you could be well positioned even as Chinese credit and currency crash and burn.

The first and most obvious bubble is credit. The combined Chinese government and corporate debt-to-equity ratio is over 300-to-1 after hidden liabilities, such as provincial guarantees and shadow banking system liabilities, are taken into account.

We just got the worst Chinese manufacturing number in about a year, and it looks like economic conditions over there are really starting to slow down as well.

Just like 2008, the coming crisis is going to be truly global in scope.

It is funny how our perspective colors our reality.  Just like in 2007, many are mocking those that are warning that a crisis is coming, but just like in 2009, after the crisis strikes many will be complaining that nobody warned them in advance about what was ahead.

And at this moment it may seem like we have all the time in the world to get prepared for the approaching storm, but once it is here people will be talking about how it seemed to hit us so quickly.

My hope is that many Americans will finally be fed up with our fundamentally flawed financial system once they realize that we are facing another horrendous economic crisis, and that in the aftermath they will finally be ready for the dramatic solutions that are necessary in order to permanently fix things.

What Is Evil Unto You, Do Not To Unto Others

Ft Collins, CO –-(Ammoland.com)- “Never open the door to a ‘lesser evil,’ for greater ones invariably slink in after it.” ~ Baltasar Gracián

Comments on my last Quip, from a colleague and Rabbi:

“Centuries ago, Rabbi Hillel (of so goes the legend), was asked by a skeptic if he could succinctly define his religion, all while standing on one foot. The latter requirement was added so as to put an emphasis on getting to the point quickly!

His answer (loosely translated) was:

‘What is evil unto you, do not to unto others. The rest is commentary. Now, go and study.’

Modern-day terrorists are mostly happy to have what they ‘do unto others’ being ‘done unto them.’ They will for example, voluntarily blow themselves up. Thus, blowing up others is consistent with Rabbi Hillel’s definition, but for the ‘commentary.’

I think that places them, and all VCAs (Violent Criminal Actors), outside the definition of ‘humanity!’

Darwin spoke of human evolution as something that relentlessly moves us in the direction of survival of our species. For terrorists, if their route is the path to specie survival, we’re all doomed, and relatively quickly!

Accordingly, in my opinion, we denizens of Western Civilization are all obligated, by the future of our genetics, to stay alert and prepared, so that the best of humanity is preserved and enhanced, indeed is worth preserving!

Even so, there are still ‘acts of nature,’ (‘Force Majur,’ I think they’ re called) so staying alert and prepared always remains invaluable, and at the heart of our personal arsenal, whether threats take human form or not.

And, that suggests that we are obligated to have the ‘arsenal’ to begin with!”

My comment:

The foregoing was recognized as “self-evident” by this nation’s heroic Founders, and thus wisely embodied within our Second Amendment.

Evil is real, and it fatally infects souls of many. Pretending evil does not exist is a certain recipe for a short life!

Our war with evil, and evil men, is currently (in case you haven’t noticed) a shooting war. We have to fight!

The only question is:

Are you prepared to fight effectively, or are you just another naive VBC (Victim, by Choice)?

Either way, evil is coming to a place near you – ready or not!

“Resolution to avoid evil is seldom framed until evil is so far advanced as to make avoidance impossible.” ~ Thomas Hardy

An Ohio homeowner didn’t hesitate to put three bullets into the man who broke into his house early Monday morning.

According to Lt. Eric Lachey from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, police received a call at around 5 a.m. from a woman who believed someone has broken into her home. During the call, the woman’s husband went into their garage to check things out and was confronted by the burglar.

Thankfully, the woman’s husband reacted quickly. He shot the intruder three times; once in the hand and twice in the leg.

The suspect was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where he needed surgery to fix a shattered femur.

Police believe the intruder got in through a “doggie door.”

Lachey told Troy Daily News that this is the second time in the past few months this particular home has been broken into.

He also believes the suspect is behind a number of other incidents in the area, including multiple suspicious activity reports, and home and car break-ins.

“We’re hoping that comes to an end now,” Lachey said.
